Dugi Mena means “facilitator” in the Fasu language. Namel manmeri. This week 34 youth and women leaders from the 18 wards that make up Kutubu LLG gained skills and knowledge to help them become Community Development Workers (CDWs). A CDW helps community groups and families by facilitating development that is community-led development, participatory, inclusive, and builds local capacity.

The two-week course targeted core units from the PNG CDW National Standard (pngcdwstandard.com). Thank you to Daga community for hosting the course, which ran from the 2nd to the 14th of March. The participants will now be mentored to put into practice what they have learned, and when they are ready, they will have the opportunity to be assessed and accredited against the PNG CDW National Standard. Four Santos Foundation Officers have now been endorsed as fully qualified PNG CDW Assessors. The CDW training course was delivered by Chris Gard and Santos Foundation Officers Theda Theo, Alexander Tanabi, Steven Kaupa, and Clement Kumaru.
